Since 2004, our Student Leaders® program has helped prepare high school students for the workforce by connecting them to skills development and leadership training. Through paid internships with local nonprofits like Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford, they gain practical work and life experiences. Hear from Joe Gianni, President of Bank of America Hartford, about our role in keeping Hartford moving forward.
While the pandemic has affected everyone—in Greater Hartford and across the country—some members of our community have been hit particularly hard. We want to do our part to help. Bank of America has long believed that investing in our communities and partnering with local organizations is the best way to make Greater Hartford fairer, safer and more prosperous. We're not talkers; we’re doers. We’re supporting programs that address the healthcare disparities faced by our Black and Hispanic neighbors. We’ve expanded our existing partnerships with organizations that provide food and shelter, critical services to the homeless and care for survivors of intimate partner violence. We’re working to help keep small businesses open, prepare them to emerge from the crisis stronger than before, and ensure Greater Hartford’s workforce has the skills and opportunities to be successful.
Dedicated to preparing students for successful careers in manufacturing to meet the state’s demand for skilled workers, Goodwin University has partnered with the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technologies and Connecticut State Colleges and Universities to launch the Connecticut Manufacturing Workforce Development Initiative. Supported by funding from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), the initiative will provide 1,600 existing workers with education, training and apprenticeships over the next four years, helping them advance from entry level jobs, forge a better career path, and earn higher incomes.
At Bank of America, we have a long-standing commitment to support economic opportunity for people and communities. We are doing this by building upon our existing efforts and leveraging our strengths: creating more affordable housing and expanding home ownership, increasing lending and support to small businesses, championing job training and career readiness and addressing health disparities like access to care. We continue to focus on working collaboratively across sectors to advance opportunities that will create real impact in the lives of individuals and for the communities we serve, using the past to inform our perspective and understanding as we tackle barriers within our communities.
At Bank of America, we believe in the power of the arts to help economies thrive, educate and enrich societies, and create greater cultural understanding. That’s why we’re helping the arts flourish in communities across the globe.

** For the annual Rankings, JUST Capital collects and analyzes corporate data to evaluate the 1,000 largest public U.S. companies across 20 issues identified through comprehensive, ongoing public opinion research on Americans' attitudes toward responsible corporate behavior. In determining the top 10 companies for workers, JUST Capital used its Workers Leaders Index which tracks the top 20% of companies in its annual Rankings that perform the best across the five worker related issues evaluated. https://justcapital.com
