Since 2004, our Student Leaders® program has helped prepare high school students for the workforce by connecting them to skills development and leadership training. Through paid internships with local nonprofits like Just in Time for Foster Youth and Reality Changers, they gain practical work and life experiences. It's just one more way we're working to build a better future for all.

Hear from Rick Bregman, President of Bank of America San Diego, about our role in keeping San Diego moving forward.
Here in San Diego, Bank of America is committed to helping our community move forward. Our longstanding support for economic opportunity, access to healthcare systems and pathways to sustainable jobs through workforce development for communities of color is as important now as ever. We continue to take action on providing affordable housing and rental assistance, and helping reduce homelessness in San Diego. Importantly, our ongoing partnerships with local community organizations are instrumental in helping solve our problems together.
Collectively, the more than 30,000 Asian Pacific Islander (API)-owned businesses in the San Diego region are a powerful cultural, creative and economic force, accounting for nearly 90,000 area jobs, and contributing $5 billion to the local economy in 2021 alone. But even so, many API small businesses still needed some basic tools to be fully viable during the pandemic, including necessary technology.
Restaurateur Mia Davis is the owner of Mikko Sushi, a chain of three restaurants in the San Diego, California area. Mia came to the United States when she was 20 years old, unable to speak English. Early on, she worked nights and weekends as a server (at one of the sushi restaurants she now owns) to support her family as a single mother.
Mia’s story exemplifies her resiliency and ability to overcome adversity. In fact, she opened one of her restaurants in February 2020, one month before the pandemic hit, and used her social media expertise to connect with local groups and customers to keep her business going.
A Bank of America client for more than 14 years, Mia credits the Bank’s guidance and her Small Business Administration (SBA) loan for helping to make her “American dream come true.”
At Bank of America, we believe in the power of the arts to help economies thrive, educate and enrich societies, and create greater cultural understanding. That’s why we’re helping the arts flourish in communities across the globe.

** For the annual Rankings, JUST Capital collects and analyzes corporate data to evaluate the 1,000 largest public U.S. companies across 20 issues identified through comprehensive, ongoing public opinion research on Americans' attitudes toward responsible corporate behavior. In determining the top 10 companies for workers, JUST Capital used its Workers Leaders Index which tracks the top 20% of companies in its annual Rankings that perform the best across the five worker related issues evaluated. https://justcapital.com
